How to Export the Registry Key to Compare

To generate the Registry File, please follow these steps:

To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

Select the key that you want to save as a file.

On the File menu, click Export.

In the Export Registry File dialog box, in Save in, click the drive, folder, or network computer and folder where you want to save the hive

In File name, enter a name for the hive.

In Save as type, click Registry Hive Files and click Save.

Load Registry Files (REG) Button

To load Registry Files, click the [Load Registry Files (REG)] button and select the drive, folder, or network computer and folder in which the Registry File is located.

Compare Button

To Compare two files, select the Hive and then click the Compare button.

Auto Compare Button

The Auto Compare option will compare two files automatically. Load Registry Files and click the Auto Compare button.

Save Compare Button

This option save all the content of the Difference window to a Text File.

In the Save As dialog box, in Save in, click the drive, folder, or network computer and folder where you want to save the hive

In File name, enter a name for the Report File and click the Save Button.

Synchronization Check Box

This Synchronization Check Box (Enabled by default) synchronize the Registry Hive 1 and Registry Hive 2 automatically.

When you change the Registry Hive 1, this option will change the Registry Hive 2 automatically.

When you uncheck the Synchronization Check Box and change the Registry Hive 1, this option will NOT change the Registry Hive 2 automatically.

Show Differences Check Box

When you check the Show Differences Check Box and you change the Registry Hive 1 (Upper Combo Box) , this option will show the differences in the Difference Window automatically.

(This Option produce the same results than click the Compare button)
